With these goals in mind, please, let us know if you would like to volunteer for one or more of the award committees listed below for the academic year 2020-2021. Our goal is to avoid as much as possible ad-hoc committees and facilitate fair sharing of the workload and institutionalized award granting processes. The Center for Latin American Studies has created an Award Committee to streamline the process of creating committees to grant awards and recognitions to our students throughout the academic year. Serve as advisors/mentors for LAS graduate students when appropriateĬall for volunteers for Center for Latin American Studies Award Committees 2020-2021 (on behalf of the Award Committee of CLAS, UF).Provide input on innovative ideas for new LAS academic initiatives and programs.Serve occasionally on ad hoc LAS committees.Collaborate with Core and other Affiliate Faculty working in LAS.Assist the Center in promoting Latin American Studies (LAS) programs and courses across campus.Responsibilities/Expectations of Affiliate Faculty
Latin American-related courses can be cross-listed with the Center and promoted through our website.Eligible to run for positions on the Faculty Advisory Council (FAC).

Eligible to apply for Center funding (course development, professional development travel). Once you complete this form and upload your CV, your materials will be presented at one of our monthly Faculty Advisory Council (FAC) meetings for approval. In addition to your CV, we would need a brief paragraph on your research and/or teaching related to the Latin Studies. Typically affiliates devote at least 25% of their professional activity (teaching, research, service, or outreach) to Latin America, the Caribbean, or in the United States. Thank you for your interest in becoming an affiliate with the Center. The center will be point of contact and will set the final budget with event local/caterers. All food ordered must be for consumption at the event. Students are not allowed to order additional food to take home. All students participating must sign in and sheet should be uploaded immediately following the event. A sign in sheet is required at all events. An RSVP link with final event information will still be required to be sent out for a final count. This is NOT a final guest count and will only be used to determine the appropriate budget for the event. The preemptive guest list is to determine the number of students interested in attending the event. Should there be unauthorized use of funds, amount will need to be reimbursed to the center by appropriate party. Center funds will also not cover spouses, friends, alumni, or any other guests (i.e. Alcohol is not allowed under any circumstance at center funded student events. Center funds cannot and will not be given for the purchase of alcohol. Student Gathering Events are limited to 1 per semester.
